Dr. Margaret Smith

Originally hailing from Chicago’s North Shore, Dr. Margaret Smith now resides in the Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago and is proud to serve as Clinic Director of Chiro One Wellness Center of Oak Brook.

Dr. Margaret earned her Bachelor’s of Arts degree with honors majoring in Philosophy from the University of Chicago and studied Art History at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. Dr. Margaret later received her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life Chiropractic College West based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Dr. Margaret became a chiropractor because of experiences she had with the power of chiropractic to stabilize mood swings and impact anxiety, depression and insomnia. She loves working with patients seeking to improve their mental and emotional well being through chiropractic and focuses on the mind-body aspects of health and healing.

In college, Dr. Margaret worked as a docent at the David and Alfred Smart Museum of Art and led tours of Chicago art museums and art programs for under-funded schools on the Southside of Chicago. Dr. Margaret also taught summer camp in Lithuania and was recently interviewed by a Chicago based mood disorder foundation on how chiropractic can help people with bi-polar and mood disorders.

Dr. Margaret enjoys giving back to the organizations that have supported her and has co-chaired numerous committees for the University of Chicago alumni office, including currently serving as the co-chair of her Class Council. She has also served as a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta College advisory board.
Having authored numerous articles in chiropractic publications and winning awards including first place in ONE Foundation’s 2008 International Essay Competition on the use of the Bio-psychosocial model in chiropractic, Dr. Smith has lectured internationally on chiropractic and alternative medicine and has spoken at the International Chiropractic Associations’ Symposium on Chiropractic held in Madrid, Spain. Dr. Margaret is an active member of the University of Chicago Alumni Association and the International Chiropractic Association.
