Hi, my name is Gwen Masters. I have been a patient of Dr. Adam for almost two months now. I started out at the Romeoville office a month before.
More than a year ago, I awoke one morning with pain and a burning sensation in my left shoulder blade area. Not having insurance, I was using home remedies to try and alleviate the pain. Nothing worked. On a scale of 0-10, I lived with a 10+ every day. It interrupted my life more than anyone could imagine, but I dealt with it the best I could. Until one day, I was shopping at a Wal-Mart in Bolingbrook, and a lucky angel was on my side. That particular day, screeners were there talking with people and giving brief exams of the spine.
I walked around the area for sometime looking for something new that I could use on my back and a lady approached me. She asked if she could check my back. I decided to talk with her. By this point, the tears were flowing from my pain. She and I talked for some time, but because of not having insurance, I was hesitant to go see the doctor. She asked me if I could just afford a twenty dollar donation, but I didn’t think that I had the time to go. She was so insistent, that she waived the $20. Now what choice did I have?
I walked into the Chiro One office in Romeoville, and was amazed with the care and understanding that flowed within those walls. Dr. Ryan took me into an office where we talked. Even with my situation, he still did the full exam and even took X-rays!! He then sat down with me and worked out a financial and wellness plan for me! Now I was crying again, but not because of the pain. I was crying because there are people in this world who really do care. I was seeing a light at the end of the tunnel for a relief of my pain.
Because of where I worked, there was another Chiro One location closer, so here I am a patient of Dr. Adam and his staff. It has been almost three months now, and the pain level on the worst day is a 5, and on a good day it is down to a 2. I have movement in my neck without feeling like something is ripping off and the burning sensation is all but gone. I am living a more pain free life.
I can actually lift my granddaughter without wanting to scream from the pain! Simple things like cleaning my car, vacuuming, and throwing a ball were once impossible for me to do, but now, with adjustments, traction and stretches, I treasure the ability to be able to do all these things again. I can even ride on the back of my boyfriend’s bike without it playing havoc on my shoulder!
